Solo Travellers FAQs

Holiday Information

  • Usually, your dedicated Tour Manager will meet your at your departure airport and then fly with you to your destination.
  • On occasions where this isn’t possible, a Riviera Travel team member will personally greet you at the airport to help you check in and introduce you to other members of the group.

  • No, never! Whether you're on a solo holiday exclusively for solo travellers, or travelling solo on our of our regular tours or cruises, you will have a double or twin room all to yourself.
  • Rest assured, all hotels have been personally checked by us to guarantee a comfortable stay.

  • Occasionally we may have to change the running order of the holiday itinerary.
  • This could be due to several reasons such as public holidays, festivals, weather, traffic conditions or other operational reasons, and this maybe at short notice.
  • On the rare occasions this may happen we will advise you as soon as possible and act in your best interest to ensure your holiday enjoyment is not marred.

In compliance with The Package Holidays and Travel Trade Act 1995 in the Republic of Ireland, an insurance policy has been arranged with Travel & General Insurance Services Limited, to protect Republic of Ireland prepayments in the unlikely event of our financial failure. We're also fully bonded by IAA. Please see our terms & conditions for full details.

Food and Drink

  • The choice to dine alone or with your fellow solo travellers is yours - your Tour Manager will make sure that you never dine alone, unless that’s what you prefer.
  • We include a welcome dinner with all our tours to help guests settle in and get to know each other.
  • We find that even when meals aren’t included, people will still dine together, giving you the perfect opportunity to share your experiences.

  • All of our exclusive solo traveller holidays include a welcome dinner to help you get to know your fellow guests.

European river cruises:

  • Our European river cruises are full board
  • Our European river cruises with an extension are full board on the ship, and bed and breakfast during the extension part of the holiday

Tours:

  • Our tours have mixed board types, but always have daily breakfast included.
  • This is because some places have a fantastic array of dining options that we really think you’d like to discover, and trying out the local food is an enjoyable way to get to know an area.
  • Your Tour Manager will gladly recommend a number of choices to suit your palate and dietary requirements.

Your Fellow Travellers

  • We believe age is just a number, and so do the people who travel with us!
  • Age composition on our holidays varies, and your holiday may be shared with travellers in their 30s right up to those in their 80s, or even beyond.
  • What unites all our guests is their adventurous spirit, insatiable curiosity and desire to not just see, but explore the world with like-minded travellers.

  • Certainly not. People travel alone for many reasons, be it by choice or circumstance.
  • Riviera Travel solo holidays provide a safe and enjoyable environment for solo travellers to discover the world.
  • We do find, though, that our travellers make friends with other guests on our cruises and tours, and often stay in touch!

  • Our solo collection is designed to help solo travellers make the most of their time away, and getting to know your fellow travellers really enhances the experience.
  • We also find that your holiday is much more rewarding when you travel in groups of no more than two people. If you prefer to travel in a larger group, we highly recommend our regular tours.
